00 Raiser? Bitch, fuck that noise.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. I enjoyed the action and thought the art was amazing, but at the same time there were a few things that bugged me; plus, Saji’s whining got on my fucking nerves. Louise is totally cool, though.

Gundam 00 Season 2 – Episode 9

Average episode this week. The animation seemed to have hit rock bottom in a lot of places (ironically, the OP and ED sequences were actually cleaned up a lot, and they added some extra details in certain places), but the action was intense.

Gundam 00 Season 2 – Episode 8

After the failure that was last week’s episode, I prayed for the next one for at least be somewhat decent… and have Sunrise ever delivered. I feel no hesitation in saying that this episode is one of the best so far this season – and not just that, but it finally feels as though the real plot has well and truly been kicked into action.

Also, I for one welcome our new androgynous bio-android overlords.

Currently Listening to… (mid-November 2008)

It’s spring here in Australia, and with summer being merely weeks away, my musical taste seems to have shifted dramatically, hinting that I may suffer from Seasonal Music Depression. During winter I often found myself listening to post rock, power metal, doom metal and generally anything that had a gloomier and progressive feel to it. Over the last few weeks, however, it’s been all hip hop, 80s remixes, pop, electronica and dance tracks. My playlist currently feels… how can I say it?… happy. So, I thought I’d chuck it all in a .rar and upload it for your listening pleasure.

Tracks:

・ Carmen Rizzo ft. Kate Havnevik – Travel In Time
・ Carmen Rizzo ft. Kinnie Starr – Beso
・ Charlotte Martin – Pretty Thing
・ Eurythmics – Here Comes The Rain Again (Future of Vision remix)
・ Faker – This Heart Attack (Grafton Primary remix)
・ Feist – My Moon My Man
・ Flobots – Never Had It
・ Jackson Jackson – All Alone
・ The Presets – Anywhere

Oh yeah, and I still fucking love The Presets. Best act to come out of this otherwise boring country in a while. And please don’t hate me for including that incessantly over-played Faker song.

Two-faced kitten dies of complications

As tragic as genetic deformities are, mutant animals have always been widely considered to be intriguingly “awesome”, and this little scamp appears to have been no exception.

Born two days ago on November 20th, veterinarians were utterly surprised to see such a one-of-a-kind occurrence; a kitten with one brain and two faces that seemed otherwise perfectly healthy, save for a cleft palate. It could even meow simultaneously from both mouths, which I’m sure would have been a sight to behold.

Unfortunately, however, the poor little thing (tentatively named “Quasi Modo”) passed away late yesterday afternoon as a result of its deformity. Rest in peace, buddy.

You can watch a short video clip of the kitten here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/06/watch-two-faced-kitten_n_117296.html

(also, how come this kitten dies of “complications” yet so many two-faced politicians go on to lead long and fruitful lives? Curse Mother Nature and her double standards.)

Billionaire sues space company over refund policy

''AMUROOOOOO!''

http://news.aol.com/article/would-be-space-tourist-sues-for-refund/256997

Back in 2006, Japanese billionaire Daisuke Enomoto was to become one of the very first space tourists. After investing over $21 million and spending eight months training in preparation for the trip, Enomoto was told several weeks before launch that he was disqualified due to a kidney stone condition. Years later, he is now suing Virginian company Space Adventures for refusing to give him a refund; according to him, the apparent disqualification was merely an excuse to exclude him from the program simply because he wouldn’t yield to the growing costs of their hefty demands.

The main thing that bums me out about this? Enomoto was going to dress up as Char Aznable for the trip. Seriously, the man had even dyed his hair blonde and everything. Such a tragedy.

Rhys Uhlich wins Australia’s Make Me A Supermodel

FYI, Uhlich is the one on the right.

FYI, Uhlich is the one on the right.

I know, I know, reality TV shows are the devil, but for some reason I inevitably find myself watching the fashion-model oriented ones (Cycle 5 of America’s Next Top Model is also partly to blame for this; I adore Kim Stolz). Although I’m nowhere near fashionable myself, the aesthetics of fashion have always intrigued me. Ironically, I also resent the shallow nature of human beings as a whole, yet at the same time find myself falling victim to the charms of the more visually pleasing side of life. But I digress.

Though many people claim that Victoria-born Rhys Uhlich’s victory was a “surprise”, I myself could see it coming a mile away. Rhys was by far the most attractive guy of the bunch – especially after cutting off that horrid blond mane of his – and with the voting left in the hands of the viewers (the main demographic of which was female), it was a predictable outcome… even though he did lack a certain confidence, and his walk was nowhere near as refined as Courtney’s or Shanina’s.

So congratulations, I guess. Now it’s time for me to stick my head in the oven as punishment for subjecting myself to yet another trashy reality TV show. Wish me luck!

(also, as a point of interest for anyone who cares: as it turns out, one of our family’s friends is actually a good friend of Rhys’, so here’s hoping I can snag an autograph or two… er, not that I’m some creepy stalker or anything, of course. Ahem.)

Gundam 00 S2 – 07

It doesn’t really need to be said, but TV shows exist to entertain us for ~25 minutes each episode… however, I know that I am far from alone when I say that episode seven of Gundam 00’s second season made me rage. It’s not so much the ultimate outcome of everything that happened (although I did find it unnecessary), but more the way they went about it. When you have to essentially kill off a character so suddenly in order to make way for a shitty relationship, you know something’s wrong. The only good thing that came of this was that we won’t have to deal with Allelujah’s tiring bullshit for a while now.

Also, Sergei is now undoubtedly my favourite character. By far.

Gundam 00 S2 – 06

This episode was much, much better than the last two. The action was fairly decent and the drama was somewhat more enjoyable, and I felt that the cliffhanger at the end was very well executed.

‘Prototype’ leaked

Though the single’s due to come out next month, the full version of Chiaki Ishikawa’s Prototype was just leaked. I literally jumped for joy when I got my hands on it this morning; I’ve been in love with the short version of this song ever since I first heard it, so naturally I’m… pretty damn excited.

Everyone should listen to this, even if you don’t like J-Pop (I myself am not too fond of the genre, but this song is fantastic).
